Ric Shreves is a web applications consultant and author. He's been building CMS websites since 1999 and is currently a partner at water&stone, a web design agency focused on open source content management systems. Ric has published two books on the Drupal CMS and one book on the Mambo CMS. His newest book, the Joomla! Bible was released in January of 2010. He is currently working on another title for Wiley & Co: The Drupal 7 Bible.
I just finished up the Joomla! Bible for Wiley & Sons and am now working on the Drupal Bible. After that? What's next? I have several choices, so I thought I'd put it out there for everyone to have a voice. Let me know -- what are you interested in? What would you like to see a book about?

If my move back to mac was going to be successful, one of the first hurdles I had clear was getting my mail in order. As a consultant who spends a fair amount of time on the road, the communications piece of my tool kit had to be tight and tidy.
My first Mac was an original Macintosh 128, purchased in 1984 in a vain attempt to equip myself with tools for law school. It served me long and well. Somewhere along the way I found that funky screwdriver thing it took to crack the case open and crammed in another 128K. Man oh man. Then I hit the big time -- moved up to a MacPlus and bought my first external harddrive. The drive came in at a whooping 30 MB. Life was good.
Just kicked off a new facebook group. Common interest here being Open Source content management systems. It's on open group, so feel free to join in, share insights & information.

Packt Publishing today announced the release of my newest title - Drupal 5 Themes.
As the Packt site explains:
Create a new theme for your Drupal website with a clean layout and powerful CSS styling.
Expected December 2007. Pre-order now!
I think most Drupal fans will find the book of interest. Not only did we explain step-by-step the key functions, but we also documented all the (20+) style sheets and all the themeable functions. It's our hope that even more experienced Drupal developers will find the resources contained in the book to be useful.
In typical Packt style -- 5% of all profits goes back to the Drupal Foundation.

In case you had been wondering where I had disappeared to these last few weeks/months -- now you know!
Will 2007 be The Year of the Hat? We’re well into the second quarter and so far Red Hat is making all the right moves. Even the financial analysts are starting to trumpet the firm’s praises, with one Credit Suisse analyst upgrading Red Hat shares from “neutral” to “outperform” just last month.
